Diy – Braided rug
Modern outlook scrap braided rug
Hello,
Today I want to share a project that I used my old fabrics and t-shirts. You can use old t-shirts, sheets or whatever you had, in this workout. I had got pretty much red, grey fabrics pieces and white od t-shirt of my husband. I just use three colours to my rag rug.
All my fabrics were combed cotton so they are strenchen. If you use one of them a rigid fabric, it will make the braid more hard.
I cut the fabrics 1.5-2 cm wide and I tried to make longer pieces. I stitch all the pieces by their colours as you see in the photo. I made it by hand but of course using machine sewing can be easier.
I sewed two layered stitch to more strong connections and add them one after the other.
Braid process
Actually, the braid process was a bit difficult because of pretty much fabric amount. This process took my time most. I use the classical hand braid pattern. I am adding the photos of braid process
Zigzag stitching
If you do not have a sewing maching you can do it by hand. Combine it back of the rug. I made my combine process by machine by zigzaging. I set my machine for thick fabrics. I have finished all my project by zigzag sewing.
The braided rope lenght was apprximately 20 meters. I got 60 cm diameter length rug. Maybe you can guess how much braided rope you need for your own project.
Actually, this is the thing I imagined in my mind with these clours. Mean, I am pleased to see such a result. Please shere wit us your own projects.
Happy, productive days.
