Raising the Mary Rose IELTS words
Cambridge IELTS-11 academic reading part high-level words. If your target score 6.5 and higher, you should know these words.
There are lots of IELTS exam methods and tactics to get a high score is available. However, if you have a lack of information, they only help up to a point. Based on this topic, I made my IELTS preparation with complete my information on the upper level (B2-C1-C2) vocabularies and tried taking note of frequently used words. I thought it would be good to learn. IELTS There is a lot of non-ordinary words in the academic reading exam, and many of them are used to create a mess. However, when you examine all tests with a different view, you will see that there are many words used again and again. Extra vocabularies will help you to understand reading part more efficiently.
Cambridge IELTS preparation series book 11 section 2, reading 1. I have noted the words in the academic reading part “Raising the Mary Rose ” Again, maybe all of these are not exactly the necessary words for the exam, but I think people should take a look. Because if you have to get a good score, you should know something good.
The order of the words is relative to the order in which the reading is used. Descriptions are also given in the Cambridge dictionary. Here are the reading unknown words.

Warship | a ship supplied with guns, for use in war |
Seabed | the solid surface of the earth that lies under the ocean |
Fleet | a group of ships, or all of the ships in a country’s navy/
a number of buses, aircraft, etc. under the control of one person or organization |
Vessel | a large boat or a ship |
Witness | a person who sees an event happening, especially a crime or an accident /
someone who is asked to be present at a particular event and signs their name in order to prove that things have been done correctly |
Crew | a group of people who work together, especially all those who work on and operate a ship, aircraft |
Undisputed | If something is undisputed, everyone agrees about it. |
Starboard | the right side of a ship or aircraft as you are facing forward |
Erode | to rub or be rubbed away gradually |
Intact | complete and in the original state /
not damaged |
Obstruction | something that blocks a road, passage, entrance, etc. so that nothing can go along it, or the act of blocking something in this way /
behavior or actions that prevent something from happening or working correctly / in sport, an occasion when one player gets in the way of another and so prevents them from moving freely |
Timber | trees that are grown so that the wood from them can be used for building /
wood used for building / a long piece of wood used for building, especially houses and ships |
Protrude | to stick out from or through something |
Intermittently | in a way that does not happen regularly or continuously; in a way that stops and starts repeatedly or with periods in between |
Obscurity | the state of not being known to many people |
Initiated | to cause something to begin |
Wrecks | an accident in which a ship is destroyed or sunk at sea, especially by hitting rocks, or a ship that has been destroyed or sunk in such an accident |
Collaboration | to work with someone else for a special purpose |
Excavation | to remove earth that is covering very old objects buried in the ground in order to discover things about the past /
to dig a hole or channel in the ground, especially with a machine |
Climax | the most important or exciting point in a story or situation, especially when this happens near the end |
Artefact | an object that is made by a person, such as a tool or a decoration, especially one that is of historical interest: |
Salvage | to save goods from damage or destruction, especially from a ship that has sunk or been damaged or a building that has been damaged by fire or a flood /
to try to make a bad situation better |
Bolt | a metal bar on a door or window that slides across to lock it closed |
Suction | the act of removing air from a space resulting in a lower pressure in that space, either causing liquid, gases, or other substances to enter or causing two surfaces to stick together |
Crane | a tall metal structure with a long horizontal part, used for lifting and moving heavy objects |
Cradle | a small bed for a baby, especially one that moves from side to side |
Cushioning | something that makes the effects of a bad situation less severe /
to make the effect or force of something softer |
